If you are travelling with your pet to Northern Australia, speak with your veterinarian about suitable tick prevention. Using oral or topical tick treatments in combination with a tick collar and keeping them up-to-date is strongly recommended to help protect from Ehrlichia canis, a serious bacterial infection transmitted by ticks that can infect dogs. Keeping dogs away from known tick hot spots and bushland also helps to prevent spread of this disease.
