Meet the Jetpets In‑House Veterinary Team

Our Jetpets’ in‑house veterinarians bring extensive experience in companion animal health, biosecurity with international travel regulations and animal welfare compliance. Their role goes far beyond paperwork — our vets are actively involved in many stages of your pet’s journey.

Dr Monica BSc (Hons) BVSc

Dr Monica is the Jetpets Resident Veterinarian at our Melbourne Transit Lounge. Dr Monica thrives on the challenges of treating multiple species and continued learning in all things welfare and animal behaviour traits. Apart from enjoying cuddles and playtime with Frankie, our resident Jack Russell, Dr Monica will assist your pets with any medical treatments required for their next big adventure.

Meet Dr Kathy BSc (Hons 1) BVSc

Special Care for Specific Breeds and Senior Pets

Some pets may require additional planning due to their age, underlying health conditions, or breed‑specific sensitivities — particularly brachycephalic (flat‑faced) breeds such as Bulldogs and Persians, as well as senior pets.

Jetpets’ veterinary team carefully assesses factors including:

  • Respiratory and cardiovascular risk
  • Temperature and climate considerations
  • Crate size, ventilation, and comfort
  • Flight routing and layover duration
  • Fitness‑to‑fly assessments

This personalised, vet‑led approach helps minimise travel stress and ensures pets are transported as safely and comfortably as possible for their journey to ensure Happy Pets, Happy Customers and Happy People.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my pet need a health check before flying overseas?

Yes. A veterinary health check is essential before travel, particularly for international journeys. Your local vet will assess your pet’s overall health and confirm they are fit to fly. Jetpets’ in‑house veterinarians can also review documentation to ensure compliance with destination requirements.

What vaccinations does my pet require?

Vaccination requirements vary by destination but commonly include rabies and core vaccinations — such as distemper, parvovirus, and hepatitis for dogs, or feline viral rhinotracheitis and calicivirus for cats. Jetpets can guide you through destination‑specific requirements and timelines.

How long does the veterinary approval process take?

Timelines depend on your destination and your pet’s medical history. Some countries require blood tests and mandatory waiting periods that can take weeks or even months. Early planning is essential, and Jetpets’ veterinary team will help map out your pet’s travel timeline.

Will I meet the Jetpets Veterinarians?

Yes – if you are travelling overseas. Once your move is booked with Jetpets your pet travel consultant can arrange discussions with our in‑house veterinarians to answer questions about your pet’s health, travel risks, and preparation. We believe transparency and reassurance are key to a positive pet travel experience.
